What is the difference between clearance and reporting?
Standard tax invoices — business to business, and anything a buyer will reclaim VAT on — must be sent to ZATCA and cleared before you give them to the buyer. Simplified invoices, typically retail receipts, are issued immediately and reported to ZATCA within twenty-four hours. Accurate does both, and picks the right one from the invoice type rather than asking you to.
Do I still need my accounting system?
Yes, and that is the point. Accurate sits between the system you already use and ZATCA. Your team keeps issuing invoices where they always have; we turn each one into a signed, hashed, ZATCA-compliant document and handle the exchange. If you have no system yet, you can issue invoices directly in Accurate or import them from Excel.
What is a CSID, and do you handle it?
A Cryptographic Stamp Identifier is the certificate ZATCA issues to each of your invoicing devices or solutions, and it is what signs your invoices. Getting one means passing compliance checks, and it expires. Accurate performs the onboarding, runs the compliance checks and renews the certificate before it lapses — a lapsed CSID stops invoicing, so this is not a thing to discover on the day.
How long does it take to go live?
A business issuing invoices directly in Accurate can clear its first live invoice the same day. An ERP integration usually takes one to three weeks, most of which is mapping your existing invoice fields to what the specification requires — VAT categories, buyer identifiers and line-level detail are where the time goes.
What happens if ZATCA rejects an invoice?
You see the rejection immediately, in the language you are working in, with the specific field that caused it rather than a raw error code. A rejected standard invoice has not been issued, so it can be corrected and re-submitted. We keep the full request and response for every attempt, which is what an audit will ask for.
What are the penalties for not complying?
ZATCA publishes a schedule of fines covering failures such as not issuing electronic invoices, missing required fields, not including the QR code on a simplified invoice, and deleting or altering issued invoices. Amounts escalate with repetition. We are not your tax advisor, and the published schedule is the authority — but the practical point is that most fines are for form, not for fraud, and are avoidable by filing correctly.
Do the invoices have to be in Arabic?
Arabic is mandatory on the invoice. You may show another language alongside it, which is what most businesses trading internationally do. Accurate produces bilingual Arabic/English PDFs by default, with Arabic in the position the specification expects.
Where is my data stored?
In Saudi Arabia. Invoice content, ZATCA's responses and the audit trail stay in the Kingdom, and we keep them for the six-year statutory retention period with export available throughout. The Security page covers this and the rest of our controls in more detail.
Can I cancel, and can I take my data with me?
Yes to both. Plans can be cancelled at any time and take effect at the end of the paid period. Your invoices, the ZATCA responses and the audit trail are exportable in a machine-readable format while your account is active and for a defined window after it closes — the retention obligation is yours, so the export cannot be something you have to ask permission for.
Is the free trial really free?
Fourteen days, no card, and it clears real invoices with ZATCA rather than running against a sandbox that behaves differently. If you do not continue, nothing is charged and your data is exportable before it is deleted.
